New Paths

Our purpose is to advance housing and support solutions for adults with developmental disabilities within Brantford and Brant County.

We envision a community where adults with developmental disabilities can live in safe, appropriate, accessible, affordable, stable, inclusive and sustainable homes with the individualized, holistic supports they need to live with dignity, independence, and belonging as full participants in community life.

People with disabilities are at higher risk of experiencing…

Poverty

Over 75% of adults with intellectual disabilities living independently are living in poverty — putting them at severe risk of homelessness.  — CMHC

No Support

There are 65,000 adults with developmental disabilities, but only about 18,000 receive residential supports. The waitlists continue to grow by over 1,000 each year. - OASIS

Homelessness

Almost 20% of people in homeless shelters have a developmental disability. .  — CMHC

Decades spent waiting

Wait times for supportive housing for people with developmental disabilities are 10x longer than for typical affordable housing.  — OASIS

The housing crisis for people with disabilities is not a distant problem… in fact, it's happening right here in our community, right now.

These are our family members. Our neighbours. Our community. They deserve better — and together, we can do better.
